Facebook pixel is an analytics/tracking tool (similar to Google Analytics) that can be created using the Facebook Ads Manager to use on a website/blog.
Facebook pixel helps to track visitors of a website & their activities efficiently. It gives analytics report to understand better the parameters like daily traffic, traffic source, and time spent on the website, etc.
Most importantly, with Facebook pixel website/blog owners can create a custom audience, lookalike audience, and retarget the visitors (from past 180 days) using Facebook ads.
How to Install Facebook Pixel on a WordPress Blog/Website
One can install Facebook pixel on any website or blog (even on ‘Blogger’) by using the manual setup option given by Facebook.
For platforms like WordPress, Wix, Shopify, which are used by millions of people, Facebook has readily available plugins that make the job easy.
Let’s see how you can install Facebook pixel on WordPress blogs/websites
Step 1: Visit Events Manager
Go to your ads manager or business manager account. And click on three lines option at the top left corner that expands the tools option for you.
Now click on the “All Tools” button as shown in the below screenshot. Here you will find “Pixels” option under “Events Manager” section. Click on Pixels button.

Step 2: Creating a Pixel
Assuming you have not created any pixels previously, below is how the screen looks to you. Directly click on “Create a Pixel” button in green colour at the bottom.

If you have already created a pixel & if you wish to create a new pixel now, then you don’t get the green color button at the bottom.
Instead, you need to click on “Add New Data Source” button available at left side column in blue color & choose “Facebook Pixel” button from available options.

Step 3: Naming the Pixel
Now you will be asked to name your new pixel & enter the URL of the website where you intend to install this pixel. The URL option here is optional & it won’t affect your pixel even if you give a different website URL here.

After giving a name to your pixel & entering website URL, click on Create button.
Now your pixel is created & you need to install it on your blog to start tracking events.
Please note that you can create just one pixel under an ad account if you are using “Ads Manager” & not “Business Manager”. You need to connect your ad account to Business Manager, which allows you to add up to 100 pixels in an ad account.
Step 4: Installing the Facebook Pixel
You can install Facebook pixel on a blog/website by using readily available exclusive plugins for platforms such as WordPress, WooCommerce, etc.
If your blog/website is not listed in partner platforms, you can also manually install Facebook pixel code by choosing the second option as shown in below screenshot.

If you are not comfortable in accessing the website backend, you can simply send the pixel code to your site developer by entering his/her email ID after choosing the 3rd option as shown in the above screenshot.
I have chosen the 1st option, i.e., “Connect a Partner Platform” to continue the next steps of this guide.
Step 5: Choosing a Partner Platform
After clicking on the partners’ option, you will be shown a list of partner platforms for which a ready pixel plugin is available. You need to scroll down till last to find WordPress option. Now select WordPress to continue.

Step 6: Connecting to WordPress account
Here Facebook guides you through different steps to install the pixel plugin on your website/blog.
It is recommended to turn on the advance matching so that Facebook can better track your site visitors. Continue to next step after your selection.

Step 7: Downloading the Pixel Plugin for WordPress
Here you need to download your UNIQUE pixel plugin in zip format that needs to be installed on your blog/website. Please note that this Pixel Plugin zip file is unique to your blog/website.

The next three steps are self-explanatory & you can do it similar to any WordPress plugin.

Step 8: Verifying the Pixel Installation
After installing & activating the plugin, you can check if the pixel is installed correctly on your website.

Here you can enter the URL of your blog/website & click on “Send Test Traffic”. This will open your site in a new tab & if everything is perfect, you would see “Active” status. Just click on continue & you are all done installing the Facebook pixel on your site.

You can also install Facebook Pixel helper chrome extension to check if the pixel is installed correctly on your website as shown in below screenshot.
